Ann's Pet Care Friends

Randolph Animal Hospital

Ann's animals (the dogs and cats, that is) get their medical care here.

Charlotte Newell, DVM

Charlotte is Ann's friend and equine vet. She helps keep Zephyr and Shazaam in tip-top shape.

Angel's Pet Services

Pat's the best petsitter in the area. 'Nuff said.

Rover Come Over

Ann's dogs go to Rover Come Over, a great "doggie daycare" facility in Canton, MA. They have lots of fun, get lots of exercise, learn how to behave properly with other dogs, and come home tired!

MSPCA Shelter in Brockton, MA

Brandy and Niko and Ann go to agility classes hosted by the MSPCA in Brockton. Great fun, and great training and socialization for the dogs!

Clicker Training Links

The Center for Clicker Training

Karen Pryor's website includes Clicker Basics (and not just for dogs!), a Clicker Honor Roll (where people who've clicker trained their animals show off show titles, therapy work, and other accomplishments!), a "Find a Trainer" database, and a Clicker Gear shop (where you can buy all sorts of clicker-related merchandise, including Karen Pryor's excellent books on the subject).

Clicker Solutions Mailing List

This site includes information on the Clicker Solutions Mailing List (a very active email list discussing clicker training!), as well as some articles on clicker training.

Click-L Mailing List

This site includes information on the Click-L mailing list (less active than Clicker Solutions but still valuable!), as well as the "clickobedience" and "clickagility" lists.

The Clicker Journal

Clicker Train.com is the website of "The Clicker Journal." The website provides articles to help you get started with clicker training, and ordering information for The Clicker Journal. There are collections of previous years' issues availale, too!

Clicker Training Fast Start

This site includes several quick "lessons" you can follow to get started with clicker training right away!

Clicker Lessons

More online lessons you can follow at home with a clicker, treats, and a dog to work with.

Rescue Groups and Shelters

Petfinder.org

Petfinder.org is an extensive website where you can post free classifieds for lost or found pets, pets for adoption, or pets wanted. Plus search their database of shelter and rescue organization animals available for adoption -- thousands of animals, searchable by breed, size, zip code, and other criteria. This is the site to start your search for a new pet.

Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA)

The MSPCA has several shetlers in Massachusetts, including the Nevins Horse Farm for adoptable farm animals.

Worcester Animal Rescue League

Niko, the latest addition to our family, came from the Worcester Animal Rescue League. They typically have nearly 40 dogs for adoption on any given day.

All Paws Rescue

Ann's dog Brandy was adopted through All Paws Rescue as a puppy.

Animal Rescue League of Boston

Our cat, Shadow, came from the Salem branch of the Animal Rescue League of Boston.

Northeast Animal Shelter

We got our first dog, Barney, via a referral through the Northeast Animal Shelter. (He was too big to fit in their cages so they just had a card on file for him.) The Northeast Animal Shelter is a no-kill shelter. We'll always be grateful to them for helping us find Barney, the best dog anyone could ever have.

Baypath Humane Society

Baypath was one of the many shelters we visited in our most recent search for a new dog. They're a no-kill shelter. With a drop in donations since the September 11 tragedy and the need for a new septic system looming, they're in need of donations. Please help them!

T J O'Connor Pound

This regional pound always has a lot of nice dogs for adoption. They've greatly reduced their euthenasia rate through a combination of working with pet rescue organizations, other shelters, and a change in their own policies that allows them to keep dogs longer. Still, far too many dogs on their website get the 'PTS' tag added to their description. These dogs are all strays, with very little known about them, which makes them harder to place.
